Development of Integrated Project-Based (PjBL-T) Model to Improve Work Readiness of Vocational High School Students

ABSTRACT

The unemployed from vocational high schools (SMK) is still high. Several factors, including the low job readiness of vocational students and the small availability of jobs, cause the high unemployment rate for vocational schools. This study aims to develop a learning model of Integrated Project Based Learning (PjBL-T) and test the effectiveness of the PjBL-T model in preparing vocational students' job readiness. The design of this study adopted the Richey and Klein model stages. This research was carried out in three stages: model development, internal validation, and external validation. This study used research subjects consisting of 10 vocational teachers, ten industrial practitioners, and 54 Automotive Engineering SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Tempel students. The research objects used were SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Tempel, Jogjakarta Automotive Center (OJC) Auto Service, Barokah Auto Service, Astra Daihatsu Armada, and Gadjah Mada Auto Service. The data collection techniques used were focus group discussions (FGD), questionnaires, and practice assessment sheets. Data were analyzed descriptively. The PjBL-T model is feasible and can be applied according to the learning objectives. The effectiveness of increasing student work readiness tested limited and expanded and improved very well with a score of 3.27.

ABSTRACT

The unemployment rate for vocational high school graduates is still very high. Unemployment occurs because the level of work readiness is still low. Work readiness can be improved by applying competence mastery- oriented learning. Competence that is complete requires measurement tools or assessment of student work competencies to measure competency success. Therefore, this study aims to: (1) produce a product in the form of a practical performance assessment tool for students in the conveyor-based pandemic era with android control; (2) know the quality and performance of the developed tools; This research is development research using the method of combining the waterfall method and Borg & Gall. This research focuses on product functionality so that testing is carried out by technicians with input from experts from the industry. The research data were obtained from observations, interviews, document studies, and questionnaires. The results of this study are as follows: (1) the product developed already has basic functions and can be operated using Android; (2) the results of testing by technicians from the aspects of functionality, reliability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability obtained a conformity percentage of 90% (Very Good), so that the tool can be used to teststudent work readinessin vocational schools or training institutions.

Employ Well-Being, Kepemimpinan Transformasional dan Harga Diri terhadap Employability pada Guru SMK Muhammadiyah di Masa Pandemi Covid-19

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empiris hubungan employ well-being, kepemimpinan transformasional, dan harga diri dengan employability pada guru SMK Muhammadiyah 1 dan 2 Moyudan Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan variabel dependent yaitu employability dan variabel independent yaitu employ well-being, kepemimpinan transformasional, dan harga diri. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan skala model likert sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Analisis data penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis regresi berganda dengan bantuan program SPSS 21.Berdasarkan hasil analisis diketahui bahwa employ well-being, kepemimpinan transformasional, dan harga diri. memiliki hubungan yang sangat signifikan dengan employability. Subjek penelitian ini adalah Guru SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Moyudan dan Guru SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Moyudan. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Secara parsial masing – masing variabel independent yaitu employ well-being,kepemimpinan transformasional, dan harga diri memiliki hubungan yang sangat signifikan dengan employability. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang sangat signifikan employ well-being, kepemimpinan transformasional, dan harga diri dengan employability.

Employability Predictor Factors : Resilience, Self-Esteem, and Self-Confidence

ABSTRACT

This purpose of this study is to empirically examine the relationship between resilience, self-esteem, and self-confidence with employability. The researcher used class XI and XII students of private vocational schools in Kutawaluya as research subjects. The criteria that researchers set are students who have completed the industrial work practice program. The research sample consisted of 78 students of class XI and XII Business and Motorcycle Engineering, XI and XII Office Automation and Governance. Researchers obtained it by means of cluster random sampling technique. The measurement instrument that the researcher uses is the Likert model scale (employability scale, resilience scale, self-esteem scale, self-confidence scale) which the researcher compiled himself. The data analysis that the researcher uses is multiple linear regression with the SPSS V26 program. The results of the analysis show that simultaneously there is a very significant relationship between resilience, self-esteem, and self-confidence with employability (R = 0.884 and Sig. = 0.000). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the variables of resilience, self-esteem, and self-confidence can be predictors of high and low employability , so that the higher the resilience, self-esteem, and self-confidence of students, the higher the level of employability they have.

Employability Analysis of Students in Yogyakarta: Confirmatory Factor Analysis

ABSTRACT

The employability of students is an essential factor that every school must consider. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of the employability scale construct, determine the contribution of each aspect and indicator in reflecting employability variables, and test whether the theoretical model of employability fits with empirical data. Employability is measured by four aspects, namely skills, knowledge, understanding, and personality attributes. The subjects in this study were 372 students of State Vocational High School 1 Kalasan Yogyakarta. The sample in this study amounted to 225 students. The sampling technique used probability sampling with simple random sampling. The data collection method used a job satisfaction scale and data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with 2nd Order CFA through Lisrel 8. 71 programs. The analysis results show that students at the State Vocational High School 1 Kalasan have employability in the reasonably high category. The aspects and indicators that make up the employability variables are declared valid and reliable based on the analysis results. The most dominant aspect that reflects employability is the scientific aspect, namely studying the material presented in school. The lowest aspect that reflects employability is the personality aspect, namely the perception of online to take risks for what is done. The employability variable measurement model fits the empirical data. The main fit model criteria used in testing the suitability of this model are Chi-Square p, RMSEA, NFI, NNFI, CFI, IFI, GFI, AGFI.

Employability Model Reviewed from Career Planning, Self-Adjustment, and Need for Achievement

ABSTRACT 

Vocational High Schools play a crucial role in preparing graduates to enter the workforce. However, many Vocational High School graduates continue to face challenges in achieving optimal work readiness. These issues highlight the need for further research to identify the factors that influence students’ employability. This study aims to test a theoretical model examining the influence of career planning, self-adjustment, and need for achievement on the employability of Vocational High School students. The research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for data analysis. The participants comprised 360 Grade XII students from Vocational High School "X", selected through a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected using standardized scales that measured employability, career planning, self-adjustment, and the need for achievement. The analysis was conducted using SEM-PLS with the SmartPLS software, version 4.1.1.1. The results indicate that the proposed model—where employability is influenced by career planning, self-adjustment, and need for achievement—demonstrates a good fit with the empirical data. Further analysis reveals a highly significant positive effect of career planning on employability, as well as significant positive effects of both self-adjustment and need for achievement on employability. Based on these findings, the study concluded that the model is valid and applicable for explaining the factors that influence the employability of vocational high school students. The results support the importance of fostering career planning, adaptability, and achievement motivation to enhance students' readiness for the workforce.

Pengaruh Employability Skills terhadap Kesiapan Kerja Siswa

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kesenjangan antara kompetensi lulusan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) dengan tuntutan dunia industri, di mana banyak siswa dinilai kurang memiliki kesiapan kerja yang memadai. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis secara kuantitatif pengaruh employability skills—yang mencakup kompetensi non-teknis seperti komunikasi dan kerja sama—terhadap kesiapan kerja siswa. Sebagai langkah penting, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain asosiatif pada 100 siswa, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang valid dan reliabel, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier sederhana. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa employability skills memiliki pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan secara statistik terhadap kesiapan kerja (p <0,05). Model regresi yang dihasilkan secara kuantitatif menegaskan bahwa setiap peningkatan pada penguasaan employability skills akan meningkatkan tingkat kesiapan kerja siswa. Kesimpulannya, penguasaan employability skills merupakan prediktor krusial bagi kesiapan kerja lulusan SMK. Temuan ini menegaskan urgensi bagi lembaga pendidikan kejuruan untuk secara sistematis mengintegrasikan pengembangan keterampilan non-teknis ke dalam kurikulum sebagai komponen inti untuk menjembatani kesenjangan dengan kebutuhan industri.

ABSTRACT

This research aims to determine: (1) Ketrampilan Kerjaon the work readiness of students at SMK Negeri 3 Ambon; (2) the influence of Efikasi Dirion the work readiness of students at SMK Negeri 3 Ambon; (3) Ketrampilan Kerjaand Efikasi Diritogether on the work readiness of students at SMK Negeri 3 Ambon. The type of research used is quantitative using the Ex-post Facto method. The sample in this study was 184 class XII students. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and documentation techniques. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, analysis prerequisite tests, and hypothesis testing. The research results show that; (1) there are Ketrampilan Kerjafor the work readiness of Negeri 3 Ambon students; (2) there is an influence of Efikasi Dirion the work readiness of students at SMK Negeri 3 Ambon; (3) there are Ketrampilan Kerjaand Efikasi Diritogether on the work readiness of students at SMK Negeri 3 Ambon.

Etos Kerja dan Employability pada Siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Piri 1 Yogyakarta

ABSTRAK

Employability adalah salah satu hal yang penting saat individu memasuki dunia kerja. Tinggi rendahnya employability diyakini dapat dipengaruhi oleh etos kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji secara empirik hubungan etos kerja dengan employability pada siswa SMK Piri 1 Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode korelasi dengan instrumen pengumpulan data berupa skala employability dan skala etos kerja. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XII SMK Piri 1 Yogyakarta yang berjumlah 150 siswa dengan sampel berjumlah 58 siswa. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan cluster random sampling. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis product moment melalui SPSS 19.0. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif yang sangat signifikan antara etos kerja dengan employability, dengan taraf signifikansi (p) = 0,000 (p<0,01) dengan nilai kontribusi etos kerja (R2) sebesar 99,2 persen terhadap employability. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran pentingnya mengembangkan etos kerja pada siswa SMK.
